Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic beat Czech Republic’s Markéta Vondroušová 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 to take gold in the women’s singles at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.

The World No. 12, who doesn’t have a Grand Slam title to her name, won the match after nearly two hours. Bencic’s gold is the second ever singles gold medal for Switzerland after Marc Rosset in the 1992 men’s singles.

The 24-year-old can add to her medal tally when she partners Viktorija Golubic in the women’s doubles final to take on Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova and Barbara Krejcikova.
